Swim
Comments: the swim was a complete fail for me. Conditions were tough, and everyone agees that the course was long, but my performance was still horrible. I took a few kicks right off the bat, so I immediately started looking for clean water. The only place I could find it was on the far outside. I expected to swim the course in around 30 minutes, which is definitely doable for me. My sighting was horrible. I'm sure I swam an extra 500 yards. Between the chop and my inability to swim a straight line, I gave up a ton of time on the swim. As for pacing, my plan was to go sort of easy the 1st 500, then accelerate at the 1st turn buoy, then really kick it the last 500. Problem was, I got so caaught up in trying to stay on course I sort of forgot to ever accelerate. What would you do differently?: A lot of my navigation issues came from trying to avoid other swimmers. From now on I will protect my line. I will pass closer to folks, and those passsing me can go around. Transition 1
Comments: It was a long run to tansition, and damn it, I couln't find my rack immediately. Had to stop and look. What would you do differently?: I ride with gloves. Gotta stop doing that for shorter races. Bike
Comments: I went pretty hard on the bike. Passed alot of those folks that got me on the swim. Averaged 191 watts. I haad to come out of aero a couple of times to drink, and at around mile 18 I had to stand up on the pedals cause my butt hurt. Put down about half a bottle of infinit with 3 scoops. Should have finished it. Felt good and I'm pretty happy with the bike. First race with the new wheels. They are awesome. Had a few wind gussts that got a little dicey with the disc, but nothing crazy. What would you do differently?: Nothing, pretty happy with the bike. Transition 2
Comments: Had to put on socks. I had them rolled up and ready to slide on. It just takes a little time. Wish I could run without socks. What would you do differently?: be faster Run
Comments: I'm really happy with the run. PR for me. I wish I hadn't ran with my watch. I kept looking at my pace and telling myself to slow down. I hoped to average 9:00 min/miles, and I probably could have done better. I felt great. I got a little hungry on the run, but slammed a few gulps of heed at the aid stations at that got me thru. I did get chicked once at about mile 5. But wow! great pace booty. I followed her all the way to the finish. 1st mile was at 8 minutes, and I kicked the last mile to 8 minutes as well. What would you do differently?: Not wory about pacing and run the way I feel. Forget the watch and a predetermined pace. At least for this distance. Post race
Warm down: Met my wife a kid at the finish shoot. Walked a stretched a little, then waited on my friends to finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: I stunk on the swim!! Event comments: Other than the poor swim, I'm stoked with my performance. This was a tune up for Augusta, and I felt really good! Last updated: 2010-06-16 12:00 AM

Did not sleeep well friday night. Nerves I guess.Had a cup of coffee early and got down some yogurt and a banana. Headed to race site at around 6:30. By the time I walked to transition area it was raining and the wind was starting to pick up. Set up transition and went to get marked. My buddies Dave and Marc were racked beside me.Met DougRob in transition. Nice guy.I stretched a little and headed to the water around 7:40. My wife and little boy got to the dock as I was getting in. When I got to the water the wind was blowing and the chop was noticeable. The air temp was prolly 75.
I swam a little. Probably not hard enough to get sufficiently warmed up.
