Swim
Comments: a little disappointing. was hard to get in a good freestyle rhythm and ended up doing a lot of backstroke. after the second turn i headed back to the shore and the sun was directly in my face. What would you do differently?: clean goggles better before the race and practice more open water swimming. Transition 1
Comments: very pleased with the transition time. had a long run from the beach to bike and got out of suit and got socks and shoes on easily. What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: good time. hit over 31 mph on some downhills and avg'd mid 20's on most of the flat roads. shoes felt good and the last two hills were ok. What would you do differently?: practice standing more on the bigger hills Transition 2
Comments: good transition. running shoes went on easily. had "yankz" laces and worked great, did not have to deal with tying shoe laces. What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: I was about 4 minutes slower than i expected but it was a long morning. my running glasses got wet and were blurry for most of the run. I had nowhere to dry them b/c all my clothes were wet. Had to use a volunteers' shirt to dry them but it didn't help so i put them in my shirt pocket. What would you do differently?: bring a soft dry cloth for my glasses, maybe i can place it in my hat when i am setting up my transition area. Post race
Warm down: met the family and cheered on some friends at the finish line. Event comments: had a great time and a wonderful experience. Can't wait until next year. Last updated: 2010-06-20 12:00 AM

woke up at 4:30 a.m. and had 1/2 cup coffee, 1/2 yogurt, and 6oz mango juice.
packed the car and was on the road by 5:15 a.m.
listened to ipod (acdc and bruce) to try and relax while i set up my transition area. scoped out the bike in/out and run in/out areas as well as the bathrooms. talked to some old friends i met there and some of my teammates. My wife and kids also came to watch and support which was great and none of them ever complained once about being woken up at 4:45 a.m. (i know i would of)
