Swim
Comments: this was a great swim. 6th fastest female, so I'm really happy with that. I was in the front row at the start but got stuck behind some people. Easily went around and got in a good breath/stroke/sight rythym. There were lots of people banging me around. It spread out some but was a crazy swim the whole time. We were also mixed in with a bunch of people from the 2nd lap of the Intermediate Tri. Rounded buoys perfectly. There were some massive waves at one point and I had to stop to catch my breath. Not sure where those came from???? The last side of the course, I really started passing people and went as hard as I could to the finish. It was hard running out of the water, was very out of breath and shaky. Tried to run fast up to the transition area, but was really winded What would you do differently?: not much, swim harder i guess! Transition 1
Comments: took it slow, the concrete here is brutal for bare feet, and I wanted to catch my breath. Wetsuit off easy, shirt got all twisted up getting it on, took 2 tries, and I have laced bike shoes!! Didn't really care about my trans times, though. What would you do differently?: move it! Bike
Comments: I did the 5430 sprint here, on the same course. I shaved off 5 minutes this time, so I was happy! Really powered up the hills, passed lots of people, including guys!! I did get passed by some random people on a tandem bike, which I thought was funny. Also saw some roadkill, with a piece of it on the shoulder, gross! I drank a lot of water and ate some chewy gel things that I had taped to my frame. Pretty hard effort. Enjoyed the course, as it wasn't crowded like the 5430. What would you do differently?: train more Transition 2
Comments: little quicker here, felt ok, legs not too wobbly Run
Comments: guh. It was sooooo hot, even hotter than the 5430 in June. I knew it was going to be bad and I just didn't have it in me to push through the agony. I walked quite a bit. I just can't run in the heat. I've accepted that! I did notice on the way back that I wasn't sweating and I was getting goosebumps, which kind of worried me. No stomach problems, just felt exhausted. Noticed more than a few people walking, though, so I wasn't the only one!!!! I think everyone was feeling the heat. Plus, my foot hurt, has been hurting for a while. What would you do differently?: i guess run in the heat more! Post race
Warm down: hung out with some family and my racing friend, drank some beer, then drove my friend home since she was super sick!!! What limited your ability to perform faster: the heat Event comments: I was so glad this race was rescheduled!! Didn't want to miss it and I had a great time!!! Last updated: 2010-06-25 12:00 AM

raced with a friend so we left the kids and husbands behind and drove down to Boulder. Set up transition, walked around and tried to stay cool! Sat in the shade, messed with our stuff, used the bathroom multiple times!
Swam a bit in the swimming beach area.
