Swim
Comments: Swim went pretty well, and I know I was pulling harder than I've done before. Tried to keep my kick under control to save my legs for the bike. Had a little bit of knocking around with some other swimmers, but nothing bad, just touching their feet or them touching mine. What would you do differently?: I think this went about as well or better than expected. I needed to sight a little more and probably swam a few extra meters because of that, but over all very pleased. Transition 1
Comments: I was slow... ended up sitting down to remove the wetsuit off my ankles. For some reason, my Garmin 405CX froze at 6:55 am... so I fiddled with it for a few seconds. I put on socks, but I had them pre-rolled, so they went on easy. Overall, I think I can shave a minute off pretty easy here. Ate 1 GU and a quick squirt of water. What would you do differently?: Bricks with the wetsuit. Didn't do any in my training. Bike
Comments: The bike leg went great. I was a minute faster than where I hoped to be. I could feel the thighs burning on the way up, but managed to push through that and get to the turn around at 23:30. The ride down was spectacular! I got up to speed right away and stayed on the aero bars for 95% of it. Was cruising at 28-29 mph on the flatter sections. Was passed by maybe half a dozen TT bikes, but I they just motivated me to keep going hard. What would you do differently?: Nothing. This was just about as good as I could hope for. More training to get faster? Transition 2
Comments: This went much faster and I felt like I turned around pretty well. What would you do differently?: Maybe different running shoes in the future. Wished my Garmin was working. Run
Comments: My legs felt like lead comming off the bike. I tried to regulate my pace and breathing to stay in control. Thoughts of doubt crept into my mind, so I just started focusing on catching other runners ahead of me. My main goal was to just not stop running. I resisted the urge a couple of times to walk. I am glad I did! I ended up getting 2nd Place in my AG! What would you do differently?: Definately more training. Post race
Warm down: Kept the hurling in check and then just walked around. Wandered into the food tents but gave the snacks to my 5 year old. I did not feel like eating. What limited your ability to perform faster: Volume in training. I need to get underway for the next race. Event comments: Fun race... wish they had more aid stations and port-a-potties. Good spectator event! Last updated: 2010-07-18 12:00 AM

Woke up early (5:30 ish) to give myself a lot of time to absorb water and digest some oatmeal. Didn't fuel beyond that because my stomach has always been twitchy on race mornings.
Got to the course about 6:30 and took my time setting up my transition, get marked, timing chip, etc. Once satisfied walked the 3/4 mile to the swim start.
Just hung out for about 45 minutes. Got in the water and practiced swimming for maybe 4 or 5 minutes just to get used to the water and loosen up.
