Run
Comments: Wanted to do better at this race than in Myrtle Beach. Took the first two miles slow, worked the uphills and used gravity on the downhills. Just enjoyed being out there and kept telling my body to relax. Mile 6 came before I knew it. Feeling good, time to pick up the pace. Mile 9, still feeling good, time to go faster. Mile 10 and 13 were 9:21's. 11 and 12 had hills and bridges which were slower, but still under 10 and no walking. What would you do differently?: nothing Post race
Event comments: This is the first time that I have felt good on this course. PR at this distance by 2 min and PR on this course by 17 min. Mental state and confidence made the biggest difference. Last updated: 2010-07-20 12:00 AM

Woke up at usual time. Time change makes it easier to be up early for the race. Breakfast was fig newtons. Left the hotel at 6:30 for the 8:00 race because the road closed at 7. Cold and windy. Temp was 37 and wind was 8-10 mph with higher gusts. Wind chill 32. First really cold weather run of the season. Previous cold weather run was 42. Sat in the car to keep warm until 10 min to start. Rest room stop and off to the start.
First mile of the race was warm up. Two lane and lots of runners, can't go too fast at the start anyway.
