Comments:

Changed from wave 3 to wave 6 with the rest of the 1st timers. Was a rough swim for me. Swallowed sea water twice, caught unfriendly waves and found myself side stroking a good deal of it. Goal was purely to get from point A to B. Not bad considering it was only my second time in the sound to swim. Still was ahead of some so I gained a bit of confidence.
What would you do differently?:

More ows in salt water.
Transition 1
  • 03m 19s
Comments:

Slow!
What would you do differently?:

Transition was tough. Was afraid I was going to be fatigued and really I wasn't so I took a bit more time then I needed. Next time I will forget the socks and take drink when I get on bike.
Bike
  • 39m 20s
  • 12.6 miles
  • 19.22 mile/hr
Comments:

This was my ride. Strong from the start on a small hill. Passed riders right away. Tried to follow the no drafting rules and got a little peeved when some other riders seemed to not abide the same. Took advantage on the hills where I felt the strongest. Passed no less then 50 and was never passed. The center of Main St. proved to be a little tricky with the traffic. May have lost a minute or two trying to be patient on the passing.
What would you do differently?:

Practice corners and passing more efficiently.

Transition 2
  • 02m 46s
Comments:

Was a bit fired up and may have wasted some time talking to coach while putting on my sneakers etc. I did stay in motion though.
What would you do differently?:

No chit chat. Practice getting shoes on.
Run
  • 28m 12s
  • 3.5 miles
  • 08m 04s  min/mile
Comments:

Had a good time with this. Was feeling strong, talking to folks on the run. Encouraging some who were walking to get moving. It was my best pace ever and I think if I was more focused I would have done even better. 8:03 min/mile I was just having a good time at this point.
What would you do differently?:

Pushed a little harder. Peed before the swim.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Swim was tough for me.
