Total Time = 1h 38m 35s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 3/4
Pre-race routine:

Had a Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter crunch Clif bar and water
Event warmup:

Did a 5-10 minute run around some of the trail portion
Run
  • 25m 14s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

I maintained a very solid pace. The trail portion slowed me down just a bit as I am not used to navigating roots (unless I'm on a mountain bike!)..although many of them were spray painted white for easy visibility
What would you do differently?:

run the trail portion faster now that I'm more familiar with it
Transition 1
  • 01m 35s
Comments:

This was my 2nd Duathlon and I had the exact same T1 time in my first one. The area was easy to navigate.
What would you do differently?:

I just need to practice more.
Bike
  • 38m 49s
  • 11.8 miles
  • 18.24 mile/hr
Comments:

My Garmin ran out of juice on mile 3, so I was not able to track my HR, speed and cadence. I did feel like I held my own, was only passed a couple times and felt good coming off of the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Charge the darn Garmin!
Transition 2
  • 01m 34s
Comments:

Funny that this was only one second different than the T1 time. I did good jogging the bike back to the rack but did take an extra couple drinks of water which slowed me down a couple seconds.
What would you do differently?:

I just need transition practice.
Run
  • 31m 20s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 10m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

I started out fine, walked that steep trail hill but then ran out of gas...way too many walk breaks during the last part of mile 1 and most of mile 2.
What would you do differently?:

I need to practice more bricks. I also think I just need to suck it up and push myself harder during those second runs. I think I could have done much better here.
Post race
Warm down:

Did a lot of walking, drank water & Powerade, ate banana and cookies...then some stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

need more practice transitioning, could have used some trail run experience, and I need to get past the mental tiredness and suck it up during the final 5k.

Event comments:

The race started late due to "waiting for the police". I do love this series though...everything is very organized and the volunteers are so amazingly encouraging. Looking forward to more Tri The Parks events!

Course: Trail/paved/trail/paved. The 1st trail segment contained a quick downhill/very steep uphill in which I saw no one running. The last paved mile or so is totally downhill, making for a great finish.
