Pre-race routine:

Got up at 7:30 am. Had a banana and some water and then made the 10 minute drive to the park way too early. Ran into Joan and her sister on the walk in, picked up our time chips and waited. Felt the humidity drop while waiting and then lined up for a hot one.
Event warmup:

Walking to the start line was plenty.
Run
  • 49m 33s

  • 12m 23s  min/mile
Comments:

Started out slow and steady and because of so many people, we were forced to run the first 8 minutes even though we were going to do a 3:2. We started leap frogging Joan and Sue and that was fun. We ran a lot of the hills because our 3:2 just fell that way. Finally got to the big hill and ran the first half of it and then we had to walk for a bit and run the second half of it. We went slow and steady the rest of the way and just did the best we could. And we did great.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Good race, wasn't a priority. Just wanted to have fun and not overheat.
Post race
Warm down:

Got lots of water and bomb pops to cool myself down. Had some more food and some more water and another bomb pop. Then went to go watch the kids run.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not much... it was a hot day.

Event comments:

Love this small local race. We do it for Ryan! I have run it every year and will be back again.
