Swim
Comments: Swim was a little disappointing in terms of how I felt although my time was fine. I just never really felt like I fell into a rhythm. Also, my goggles got very fogged up which made sighting almost impossible. I definitely need to look into a new set of goggles and some anti-fog solution. Still my time was faster than the loveland sprint tri. What would you do differently?: More time practicing on open water swims. Transition 1
Comments: Bike transition was smooth and I was off and pedaling quickly. What would you do differently?: Only change would be to make sure that my bike computer was on before the swim start. It was a good mile before we got started. Bike
Comments: Relative to other competitors in my age group, I rode fairly slow. I didn't feel terrible on the ride, but I did feel like I lacked some energy after the swim. What would you do differently?: I would definitely do hydration differently. I would have liked to have had more H20 for the ride as I found the powerade zero to be too much (and warm!). I managed a decent pace, but it wasn't totally what I was capable of. Transition 2
Comments: Transition was smooth. I got my shoes on quickly and move out of transition. What would you do differently?: Nothing in particular, although as I get more into this, I would like to speed up my transitions. Run
Comments: This was probably the biggest challenge as far as the entire race. By this point, the sun was really beating down and I just didn't have enough left to really kick it into gear. I was just hoping to get a good pace going. What would you do differently?: I think I would have gotten two cups of water from the first aid station. One to drink and the other to put on my head. I did this at the turn around and it really helped me to pick up the pace. A little cooler and I might have dropped my run time by 1-2 minutes. Still I'm not going to complain as I felt like I did the best I could given the temperatures. Post race
Warm down: I ate two veggie tacos from Illegal Pete's! What limited your ability to perform faster: The heat was the biggest factor that affected the race. I had done some afternoon brick training which probably made a huge difference for me. Event comments: This was a nice race to finish up my first summer of triathlon. I'm now looking forward to the off season and having the opportunity to work further on my conditioning. I definitely want to try and move up to the intermediate/ olympic level next summer. This is a great sport with a lot of great challenges to take on. Last updated: 2010-08-05 12:00 AM
