Swim
Comments: Choppy. Very windy and choppy. The chop made it difficult for me to focus on form. I felt fine the whole way; just the rough water made it a bit of a struggle. This was my worst race swim to date as far as time. But I've had worse swims as far as not being able to regulate breathing and struggling with it. I think I hold back on the swim because I'm afriad of my breathing getting out of control and it turning into a struggle. I'm not afraid to get outside of my comfort zone on the bike or the run, but I am on the swim. So I find myself piddling along at a comfort pace rather than a race pace. I'll get with the Coach again after B2B and try to iron this out during the winter months. What would you do differently?: Nothing I could have done differently. I'm just slow. More training with coach. Transition 1
Comments: A little slow getting myself togther. What would you do differently?: Move faster! Bike
Comments: Very windy and very rough road. But this ride was consistent with my training and level of fitness. What would you do differently?: Train harder and maybe get a Tri bike. Transition 2
Comments: I fumbled with racking the bike (actually knocked the bike beside mine over) and stopped to mess with my garmin which had a low battery signal. The multisport function did not switch to run, so I manually changed it. Didn't matter, because it died shortly after I started running anyway. What would you do differently?: Move faster. Run
Comments: I'm generally a pretty consistent runner, but I should have been closer to 8:35 min miles. Too much LSD and not enough speed work. I felt good and steady the whole way. It's always fun to see all the friends and teammates on the run course! What would you do differently?: Do more speed work. Post race
Warm down: Walked it off. Had arthritis issues in my knees, mainly left kneee. Almost forgot to log nutrition/hydration. A few minutes before swim start I found a GU in my pocket, so I went ahead and sucked it down. I had one serving/bottle of Infinit during the first half of the bike course, followed by a bottle of Nuun. I took a second GU at mile 25 of the bike. I ran out of water before I finished the bike and was worried to start the run without more hydration. This slowed down T2 as I drank water at my bike rack and also grabbed a cup at the run out. Normally I would not do this since I should have been properly hydrated before getting to T2. On the run course I only drank water. Only thing I would have done different is grab a water bottle on the bike course and put on the bike for just in case. I really thought 2 bottles would have been enough for 28 miles. What limited your ability to perform faster: Unfocused training. Event comments: Great race. Well organized. Very energetic supportive volunteers. Last updated: 2010-08-06 12:00 AM

Ate scrambled eggs w/ spinach and coffee 3.5 hrs prior to race start. Drove to race site. Packet pickup, body marking, set up transition. It rained, so we sat in the truck for awhile.
Looked for everyone. We had me, Pete, Matt, G.A., Paul, and Lora. I never found Tracy who was supposed to race. And after the race I found Josh and Erin who I did not know were racing! So we had a good turn out from the Tri Club. I also found a few of the Raleigh folks. Always good to see them too!!!
I was shivering and cold after getting wet by the rain. It was a bit windy. The water was warmer than the air temp so I got in and swam pier to pier a little.
