Swim
Comments: I decided that since the swim is my strong point, I was going to go out and swim it as hard as I could, and just struggle through the bike and run (since they kill me for OA placing anyways). I took it out what seemed like pretty quick to me. I am still kinda shocked at my time, I would've guessed that I was a good 1:30 faster. The time did include a decent run up to the T-area, but it didn't seem long enough to slow my time down that much. What would you do differently?: Honestly, not much... I felt great coming out of the swim. Transition 1
Comments: I decided NOT to clip my shoes in before the race, because the T-area was a rough and dirty area, so I figured that I would put my shoes on while my feet were clean. I was 6th in my AG for T1 time, so I must not have done too much wrong. :) Bike
Comments: This ride wasn't bad, but with a sore knee, it got to me by the end. I definitely need to work on my bike endurance. What would you do differently?: RIDE, RIDE, RIDE! I'm definitely going to spend a LOT more time on the trainer this winter. I need to work on my technique. Transition 2
Comments: Felt like another good T. Got in, got into my socks and shoes quickly, took a couple extra seconds to grab a little more water and Accelerade. What would you do differently?: Not much, maybe not take the extra time for liquids, but it was warm enough out to be justified. Run
Comments: The first part of the run HURT. My knee, which had been hurting on the bike, REALLY started hurting going up the hill in the first part of the race. I started running as long as I could, then would walk for 10-15 seconds. I got through the first mile, back up the hill and decided that I would ignore the pain in my knee. After the 2M turnaround, I decided to really go, and finished the last 1.1 in about 1:10 faster than my 2nd M. What would you do differently?: do more bricks to work on keeping the feeling in my legs. Post race
Warm down: walked around with Dan while we waited for him to get his AG 1st place award. What limited your ability to perform faster: my biking, my running LOL Event comments: The below average on the Post race activities was really because the awards were done poorly IMHO. The winners were barely recognized, and after sitting through ALL the age groups of 5K runners, it seemed like they could've done a little better job with recognizing all the great athletes who placed top 3. There were no finisher awards (not that I really care, but for some people doing their first tri, it's nice to get a "little something for the effort" Last updated: 2010-08-08 12:00 AM

Got to the site early. I like races where I know exactly where I'm going. The only problem was that when I got to the driveway going in, they didn't have it marked. At least I got to drive to the 1M turnaround on the run course. Got there and checked in, realized that I had parked right next to Dan, one of my buddies, we hadn't even realized it when we parked (must've still been half asleep)
After check in and set up, went down to the water to stretch and get a little swim in. probably went about 200-250 yards, just enough to get the blood flowing.
