Pre-race routine:

Stayed at Sleep Inn in Bracebridge. Ate sushi for dinner - so good.
Got to sleep about 11pm, woken up at 3am to a guy walking around above me.
Got up at 6:15. Prepared gluten-free waffles with bananas in the common-area kitchen.
Got to race at 7:30am.
Event warmup:

Went for a 10 min run along bike course.
Swim
  • 15m 10s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 01s / 100 meters
Comments:

Didn't go out as hard as I did last year. Stayed in front of 2nd group. Which wasn't far off the few that went out in front. Swim fitness not as good as last year.
What would you do differently?:

Go out harder.
Transition 1
  • 01m 27s
Comments:

Under goal of 1:30. Wetsuit got a bit stuck on left ankle.
No issues clipping in to bike - for the first time.
What would you do differently?:

Need to try for a faster time at next T1.
Bike
  • 44m 22s
  • 20 kms
  • 27.05 km/hr
Comments:

Kept a good pace and cadence. Definitely improved on the bike.

What would you do differently?:

Could of had more to drink/eat. But didn't suffer because of it.
Transition 2
  • 00m 1s
Comments:

Faster ever T2 time! Yay to stretchy lacees! Pink too!
What would you do differently?:

Happy with that.
Run
  • 30m 28s
  • 5 kms
  • 06m 05s  min/km
Comments:

Good run. Settled in at under 1 km in. Didn't walk AT ALL! Last km home was overtaken by a woman in my age group. Didn't want her to pass me to caught up and we started chatted and kept running at a good pace. Another woman in our age group passed up. 1st woman announced "that's not supposed to happen". After a min I said "lets gang up on her". 1st woman told me to go for it. I caught up to her and race her home.
What would you do differently?:

Run fitness is coming together.
Post race
Warm down:

nothing. Went wakeboarding in the afternoon.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Went out too slow in the swim but was heeding advice of cardiologist.
Faster time o/all than last year.

Event comments:

Love this course. Will do it every year.
