Total Time = 1h 36m 52s
Overall Rank = 76/237
Age Group = 50-54 M
Age Group Rank = 13/23
Pre-race routine:

Race was close to home and didn't start until 8, so I didn't have to leave my house until 6.
Event warmup:

About a half mile of easy running plus some pickups.
Swim
  • 16m 53s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 55s / 100 yards
Comments:

Wasn't able to get in the water for a swim warm up, so it took a couple of hundred yards to get in a groove, but then I felt pretty good. Felt especially strong after the turn around. Time includes run of a couple hundred yards from the water to transition. Overall a good swim.
What would you do differently?:

Swim warm up
Transition 1
  • 02m 4s
Comments:

Too slow! Took too much time getting wetsuit off
Bike
  • 54m 6s
  • 16 miles
  • 17.74 mile/hr
Comments:

I was in the last swim wave, so there was a fair amount of traffic to negotiate for the first few miles which made it a little hard to pass. On the long fast descent I was a chicken as usual, so I got out of aero and on the brakes too much, but I can't just let myself go.

I did very well on the long climb, and passed a lot of people. The last 5 miles has some nice fast descents that are not too steep so I did really well there. Very good ride.

Bike computer had distance at 15 miles, which I think is more accurate than the advertised distance of 16 miles.
What would you do differently?:

Let loose on the big descent.
Transition 2
  • 00m 55s
Comments:

Had a little trouble getting my shoes on.
Run
  • 22m 51s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

Legs felt great getting off the bike. Was able to pick up the pace after the turn around, but I should have gone faster on the first half.

Garmin says 2.8 miles for the second year in a row so I think the run course is also a little shorter than advertised. This pace would be faster than my open 5K PR pace which is highly unlikely.

What would you do differently?:

Come out faster
Post race
Warm down:

Walking, chatting and drinking a lot of water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I could push myself harder.

Event comments:

I always enjoy this race. Well run, challenging course, good traffic control, and a pretty venue.
