Swim
Comments: Waves were organized by age so I was in the second wave (ages 20-32). Everything felt good, was very relaxed. I don't think I could have done much better. Lined up near the front of the wave so I wouldn't get stuck behind anyone and I didn't. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: I didn't have any trouble getting the wetsuit off. Finished the swim quick enough so that the transition area wasn't very crowded yet. The transition exit was a bit crowded so I was pretty cautious mounting the bike. 2/7 in age group. What would you do differently?: Just transition faster somehow. Bike
Comments: Improved my average speed by 1.5 mph from my first triathlon 2 weeks ago so very happy about that. There was a 1/3 mile part of the course at about mile 1.5 where passing was not permitted because of construction. Unfortunately I ended up getting stuck behind someone who was only doing 11 mph so I used that stretch to drink some water. I think that really motivated me to push it after that so I could get my average speed back up. Saw the race leader on his way back when I was on mile 7. Didn't get stuck behind anyone in the construction zone on the way back. What would you do differently?: I think I raced this one pretty well. Transition 2
Comments: I need to improve this transition. A lot of people did it in under 1 minute and I'd like to be in that group. Someone in my age group did it in 23 seconds! I was only 5/7 in age group for T2. Hopefully with more experience I'll do it faster. What would you do differently?: Still need to figure that out. Run
Comments: First mile was really slow again. Big hill right at the beginning. Calves were cramping so I took it pretty easy at first. Legs loosened up after a little while and I'm sure my last mile was my fastest one of the three by far. Picked out someone way ahead of me and told myself I would pass them before the finish, I did. Someone sprinted by me with about 200m to go so I started sprinting too and passed them back just before the finish. Shook his hand afterwards and thanked him for making the finish exciting. Improved by 45 seconds per mile from the triathlon 2 weeks ago. What would you do differently?: Just need to keep training so my legs feel good after the bike. Post race
Warm down: Walked around looking for somewhere I could get my time. What limited your ability to perform faster: 4 hours of sleep the night before isn't ideal but I got stuck working late. Event comments: Huge improvement for my second triathlon. Was absolutely stoked when I saw my time. Getting my medal during the awards ceremony was the greatest feeling ever. Hope to improve even more at the next one. Unfortunately that won't be until next season. Last updated: 2010-08-12 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:30, layed in bed until 4:50 half asleep. Ate Frosted Mini Wheats for breakfast. Packed up my gear. Drove 1 hour to race. Played the radio loud so I would get motivated. Set up transition and then moved it so I would be closer to "bike in/out" but then they moved the sign so I had actually moved further away from "bike in/out."
Chatted with a girl set up next to me who was also doing her second triathlon and had done the same one as I did 2 weeks before.
