Comments:

Went out hard and actually caught the wave in front of us by the first buoy. Felt bad, but I think I swam over a couple of slower folks. Would have liked to have get first in the AG, but oh well.

Comments:

A lot of bikes on the rack and not much room, so it made transition tough. Actually had a guy asking me to move my bike over so he could fit in when there was room further down the rack. Strange.
What would you do differently?:

Not much except for more practice. Not a lot of short races this year, so I haven't focused on speedy transitions where seconds count.

Had to pass a lot of people in the earlier wave through the first half which was kind of tough with some of the tight corners. The course straightening out about halfway through allowed me to drop the hammer. Had a bunch of back and forth with a couple guys to the finish, other than that, was able to push pretty hard and came in to T2 with the lead group of guys. Pretty cool.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Pushed pretty hard the whole time and cornered pretty well through the technical parts of the course.

Struggled to get my socks on because it was so humid. My socks kept sticking to my feet and toes which slowed me down a little.

These always hurt, but I was able to mentally push it through this time. I was happy that I didn't let myself slow down even though it hurt pretty bad. Grabbed water at the stops at mile 1 and 2 which is not normal for me, but didn't have any water on the bike, so I needed some on the run.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.

Warm down:

Go shower at the villa and stretch a little, then go hand out Marathon bars.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Humidity.

Event comments:

Pretty good race setup. Event was well run. Awards were a little disorganized, but that may be a little tainted as the gnats and downpour didn't make it seem like things were moving fast. Good homemade sausages from the store right down the road. Quite tasty! Overall decent race.
