What would you do differently?: More consistent weight training to build some climbing muscles. Transition 2
Run
Comments: I kept the first mile easy to find my rhythmn..but then by the hill up the highway during mile two that stupid spot on my middle back started to cramp up. I fought it off as long as I could but by the time I got to the campground it was really bad. I walked a bit and tried to rub and stretch it out. I was only able to run about 2-3 min at a time after that before it would wrench up again. It was disappointing because by mile two I was actually feeling pretty good with my hr and legs and if my back hadn't been arguing with me then I bet I could've be much faster. Oh well...back to the massage therapist. Post race
Warm down: I downed a bottle of water and walked around while eating a banana. I had to get back home and didn't want to ride back up the hill to my car..so I made a b-line for transition to get my stuff and rode to the shuttle drop off. The short slow flat ride was enough to stretch my legs back out. I wasn't tight at all by the time I got back to the car. What limited your ability to perform faster: I didn't build a good base in the spring. I knew this and I got the race I trained for. Event comments: I've said this before for this race but they should reverse the swim so we aren't swimming into the sun. Last updated: 2010-08-22 12:00 AM

I left my house at 6:00 am. Stopped at Jeremy Ranch to use the bathroom and get a Luna Bar. I ate my pbh on the way and drank a lot of water.
Rode in about a mile from the shuttle drop off. Walked back and forth from transition to body marking and timing chip pick up.
I got in the water about 10 min before my wave and kicked around a bit.
