  • Comments: REALLY wish they would start this race earlier in the morning. Also hope that they change the direction of the swim back to clockwise (how it was last time I raced it). Spotting that buoy in the sun is REALLY hard. As well, seems like the food available at the end was kind of limited (bagels, oranges, and bananas) Maybe it's because I LOVE grapes ;) Perhaps I'll do it again in another two years.

  • Comments: That was a very challenging race - my first triathlon in over a year. But I knew it was going to be doozy. I've only been back in triathlon and training mode for a month and a half or so, and I haven't done nearly enough yet. I wanted to do this, though, to establish a starting point of sorts for myself. More than ever, I realize the enormity of the road ahead of me. Getting ready for an Ironman in 10 months is going to be the greatest physical and mental challenge of my life. Whooo boy, can't wait!

  • Comments: I've said this before for this race but they should reverse the swim so we aren't swimming into the sun.

  • Comments: Someone needs to give those volunteers a red bull or something. Most of them were teenagers. all of them were lackluster in their enthusiasm for the race. But at least they were there, and they were cheering us on. A little. The sheriffs and highway patrol doing traffic control were awesome. They smiled, and answered back when I thanked them as I went by. At the next race, I should really have someone else spray my sunscreen on for me. I have 2 crispy shoulders. I can't even wear a normal bra because it rubs. :( My poor shoulders.

  • Comments: Overall this was a great thing for me. My estimates on each sport were almost right on. I thought I would do 15 minute swim, I did just over 16. I thought I would do the bike in 1 hour, I did it in 54 minutes. I thought I would do the run in 30 minutes, I did it in 34 minutes, damn cramped quads... Thanks TriUtah for a great race!!!

  • Comments: I will definitely repeat this race each year as a measure of my progress. It was a good acheivable challenge... My goal next year will be to complete in 1:50... Guess it's time to get working... One thing that I wish the race would have had were beverage and snacks for purchase by spectators... being out in the middle of no where and riding a shuttle to the park made it kind of difficult for spectators to bring little coolers... I'm glad we didn't bring the boys...

  • Comments: This will be the last time I race this tri, unless they change the venue. They had about 300 more participants this year and simply outgrew the venue. You have to take buses into the park or ride in (and out), which is 3 miles. The transition area was a nightmare, literally over a hundred yards long by about 15 feet. No room for spectators; they really have to move this. They've been a product of their own success.

  • Comments: I really enjoy the venue. TriUtah always puts on good events. The only downside to this race is the 4 mile shuttle ride in from the parking lot. If you ride it out on the bike, you have to climb the BIG hill when you've just finished racing.

  • Comments: Well, my first tri is over. I learned a lot and realize I have a long way to go. I felt a huge sense of elation at the conclusion, like I had really accomplished something. And then I started thinking of where I need to improve, etc., and that feeling of elation vanished! A great race, though, and the start of many to come.
