Swim
Comments: Water was cold, but not too bad with the full wetsuit. I went out strong, but then seemd to struggle catching my breath. Sighting was just OK...weaved a bit on the last stretch. Not my best swim, but ok. What would you do differently?: Swimming yardage had fallen off some which may have affected my swim fitness. Keep up the yardage. Transition 1
Comments: Solid tran for me. What would you do differently?: I got on my bike while standing on the timing mat for some stupid reason. The announcer said over the PA that I was doing it so I could hear my timing chip beep over and over - he was pretty good. Bike
Comments: I pushed the bike pretty hard and felt good. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 2
Comments: Good tran for me. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Race description said some trail, but I was not ready for the amount of trail, especilly the grass/weed stretch where I was very worried about turning an ankle. I just took it easy on those parts. I ran with another racer for most of the run and we talked through the trail section and had a good time. What would you do differently?: Going in, I planned on pushing the run pace, but instead took it very easy on the trail. I just wanted to avoid a disaster, i.e. another sprained ankle. Post race
Warm down: Walked around a bit and grabbed the plentiful post-race goodies. Watched my friend finish and then we chatted a bit and had some more snacks. What limited your ability to perform faster: Decided to go easy on the run. Not the greatest swim for me. Event comments: They could have used some more volunteers on the bike course, especially the first major turn off the main road. There was one small sign that could easily have been missed. Run course was a bit too much weedy trail for my liking, but seemed to be marked pretty well. Course was very pretty however, with the fall colors just starting to show. Everyone was very friendly and it was a laid back race. Great way to end the Tri season in MN! Will probably be back next year. Last updated: 2010-09-03 12:00 AM

Got up and had a bagel, banana, coffee and water. Went through final gear checklist, loaded bag into car and headed out. Arrived at about 7:20, a bit later than planned, so ended up with a not-so-great transition spot. Transition was not a run through type, so early arrivers had an advantage. Checked tran entrances and exits, got gear organized, visited Mr. Porta-potty and had some water.
Walked/jogged begginning of run course and biked maybe one mile to get shoes on and gears set. Swam maybe 100 yards before start.
