Swim
Comments: My time in the water was 20:38 from start to out of water. Add a 200 yard plus run from the beach area to T1 and where the timing mats were located. Although they said the swim was 800 yards, I really think it was a little further. Nevertheless, I had no problems in the nice warm water. Also, no problems with other swimmers. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: Long run from the swim area to T1. What would you do differently?: My computer chip strap was apparently on the wrong ankle, so the girls at the mats told me I had to switch it before I left. Not sure how that works but it did slow me down about 20-30 seconds. Bike
Comments: Very hilly course and being that I live near the beach, I didn't train enough on hills. There were some very long ascents (not sure the overall distance, but it felt like four or five miles going up). I guess the good thing about going up hills is you get to go down them also. Although my overall time was fairly slow, I had some very good speed on a couple of the hills. What would you do differently?: Find some very long tough hills around my city and train harder Transition 2
Comments: None Run
Comments: I think the bike course took its toll on me. When I started my run I actually felt okay. Once I was off road the hills just took a lot out of me. My legs were very fatigued. Thankfully, there was a downhill into the transition area and a fairly flat course after that. What would you do differently?: Need to train going from a hilly bike course to a hilly run course Post race
Warm down: Fluids, bananas, grapes. Stretched a little. Felt no real discomfort after the race. What limited your ability to perform faster: I don't think I was in that great of shape to ride and run the type of hills that I faced in this race. Event comments: Great race. There were plenty of volunteers and along with the cops they all did a great job. Last updated: 2010-09-07 12:00 AM

Up at 4:45 am. Had a can of Ensure and a plain bagel for breakfast. Took a cup of coffee with me to the race site. It was nice to have been able to leave my bike overnight at the transition area so all I needed to do when I arrived was get marked and place my shoes / equipment out.
Stretching and swam about 75 yards in the lagoon area, which was where the start began.
