Run
Comments: My training times have been slower this year, so I had very low expectations for this race. My first goal was to finish the race (check!), then secondly, I wanted to be under 10 min/miles (Check!), then I wanted to beat my time from last year of 2:05 (check!) and as a long shot, I wanted to come in under 2 hours - I missed that goal by a full minute. What would you do differently?: I don't have a good plan. I decided to run at a peppy pace for as long as I could. I couldn't believe my times were well under 9 min/miles for the first 6 miles. I really started to fade from mile 10 on. I couldn't seem to make my legs go any faster. Post race
Warm down: Eat pizza! What limited your ability to perform faster: The recent loss of 7+ pounds really paid off for me. Event comments: This race has a good vibe - but I will complain that too many women are tuned into MP3 players and not into each other. I like to chat along the course, and it seems that more and more women are wearing earphones are in their own little worlds. Last updated: 2010-09-09 12:00 AM

The clocks changed today so I could have slept in an extra hour, but I was too wired. I got to the race by 8 a.m., registered, browsed the expo, stretched and took a warm-up run. Drank water, and a tablespoon of nutella! And one eletrolyte pill.
I carried 8 oz. water, one peeled orange, separated into 10 pieces, one electrolyte pill.
I wore long-sleeve shirt with thumb-holes, LL Bean vest, smartsweat visor, black tights with orange stripe. InMotion bra.
Ran about a half-mile at an easy pace.
