Swim
Comments: I took in a bit of water when a girl swam over the top of me. I don't think my wetsuit was quite right, I got a fair bit of pain down my left side towards the end of the swim. I had to actually stop to have a chuck at one point... it was going to be a long day! I had trouble getting out of the water, I fell down about three times, my legs were like jelly. I had to get Tim to unzip my wetsuit, because I forgot that Superman had stuck the zip cord up on the velcro, and I couldn't find it... Fail. This time includes about 1km of run up to the transition, up a hill. Erg. It was pretty bad! What would you do differently?: I need to do a lot more swimming in my wetsuit. Practise makes perfect! Transition 1
Comments: I actually attached the shoes to the bike like a pro today. This was my first challenge (you know, apart from getting the wetsuit off). What would you do differently?: I was exhausted after the swim, and spent too much time messing around. Will know better for the sprint races now. Bike
Comments: There is a reason none of this is filled in. I got into my shoes alright, and I got up to speed, as there was a tail wind on the way out of transition. The first turnaround was 2km from transition, then we turned and headed back, into a terrible wind. But that was alright, I was determined to go through it. Then from the turn around, someone else came past, and had hit the corner a little too wide, and pushed me out into the gutter.... I rode over a gatic cover in the rode, which promptly poke metal into my tyre. It was either retire, or run a marathon, and I wasn't up for that today. DNF. What would you do differently?: Not let people bully me onto the side of the road. Transition 2

Post race
Event comments: Actually finishing might have helped. But seriously, lesson learned. Carry a spare tube, and co2 cartridges, even though I was told not to bother for a race this size. I will from now on. This was my goal race for the season, so it was extremely disappointing. I think I threw my bike, my shoes, and cried for about 20 minutes. And even told someone to "go fuck themselves". Which they totally deserved btw. There is another OD in Geelong on the 20th of Feb. If I am going to do Shepp this year, I need to finish an OD first. So I have a month and 9 days to get ready now. Hopefully I can smash that one! Last updated: 2010-09-09 12:00 AM

Not a lot. Get up, pack our crap, get to the race.
I had a triathlete from Sydney staying with us, so it was nice to have someone to go to the race with :)
None really. Bit of a swim in the wettie before the swim start.
