Swim
Comments: I'm not a good swimmer. I felt pretty relaxed in the water here as the waves weren't too bad. I had some trouble sighting on the way in as the sun was in my eyes but otherwise I felt ok What would you do differently?: Try to draft a bit more but overall just learn proper technique. Transition 1
Comments: Had a run in with a guy who decided to cut horizontally accross the mount line and stop so that wasn't cool. Otherwise a pretty standard T1. The zone was pavement which was hard on the feet but they were numb from the cold water so that was ok. What would you do differently?: Will be investing in proper Tri shoes because I have mountain biking pedals and shoes so it's tough to have these pre-clipped in and slip on while riding. Bike
Comments: I hadn't been on my bike for over a week prior to this race (moved out for school) so it was tough getting my riding legs under me. That made this ride tougher than it should have been. I like the hills so I was able to wake my legs up on the climbs and pass some people but my abilities to fight the wind just weren't there. What would you do differently?: I would try and get on my bike more frequently in the week prior to the race. Although my schedual leading up to this one just didn't allow me to that was too bad. It was a grind. Transition 2
Comments: I got disoriented as I entered the T2zone and went the the opposite side before realizing where I was. This cost me some seconds which was too bad but otherwise it went pretty smooth. What would you do differently?: I would make sure that I am thinking about my position in the zone prior to dismount so that I don't make another wrong turn. That's the first time I've done that as I am usually around 40seconds in T2. Run
Comments: I love to run. As I mentioned before the ride was a grind so as soon as I got my runners on it was game on. This was a course that I could be pretty aggressive with because of the flatness. What would you do differently?: I probably would have pushed harder in the first 2k. I hadn't done a brick workout in a couple weeks and this was evident as I ran my first 2k in 4:01 and 4:00 respectively. I usually try to push for 3:50 in those but all in all I was happy with the run because I was able to empty the tank. Post race
Warm down: No warmdown (that was a mistake as I am stiff today) but a nice full stretch What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training in the 10 days leading up to the race due to school starting and moving out. I just felt out of practice. Event comments: The race was well done. The fact that it was directly on the main strip of Wasaga Beach was pretty cool because there was a nice crowd cheering us on. The distance markers on the run and bike were a bit off but otherwise it was well done. Last updated: 2010-09-12 12:00 AM

Got up and had some breakfast, a bowl of Just Right with some Honey Nut Cheerios on top and a cup of coffee. Hour and a half drive out. Got there and set up transition did a jog warm-up and full stretch.
Jog 2.25K (11) minutes in sweats to warm myself up as it was a chilly morning. Then I did a full stretch while visualizing a solid race.
