Swim
Comments: Tough swim, unusually choppy for White Lake. Wind and chop in your face on the way out, then again on the way to the second turn buoy. Finally wind and chop at your back on the way in. Found a decent pace and drafted behind someone for most of the swim. What would you do differently?: This was about max effort for me on the swim, not sure I had much more in me. Transition 1
Comments: No issues, passed a few people in the chute. Maybe took a little longer because I put on a bike jersey, I did not wear a tri top for the swim. What would you do differently?: Nada Bike
Comments: Good bike for me, held a good pace throughout the course. I was trying to keep a friend of mine in my sights, figuring I might be able to catch him on the run if he was not too far ahead. Had a gel at mile 15, finished my front bottle during the ride. What would you do differently?: Good bike for me, probably the best of the year. Decided to just push the pace as hard as I could and not worry about burning out. Transition 2
Comments: Good T2, third fastest in my AG. No issues, felt good. What would you do differently?: Nada Run
Comments: Best run of the year. My plan was to keep my pace under 8, saw a couple of people ahead that I wanted to beat and just concentrated on running them down. Felt pretty good for most of the run, felt like I gave it 100%. What would you do differently?: Nothing, this might have been a run PR on an Olympic race. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed a water, felt dizzy for a while so went and sat down. Sat in the lake for a bit. What limited your ability to perform faster: Good race for me, can't say that I would or could have changed anything. Event comments: Great venue, love the White Lake weekends. Woke up at 5:30, had some coffee and 1/2 Cliff bar. Set up the bike and run course cones.
No warmup, got my stuff situated in TA, then tried to stay warm till my wave started.
