Swim
  • 18m 1s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 24s / 100 meters
Comments:

Tough swim for me, struggled with running through the water part.
Totally hated it. Found last few hundred meters difficult.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe do some water running to build up strength if racing this event again.
Transition 1
  • 01m 29s
Comments:

Wetsuit came off real easy, putting Vaseline on my lower legs really helped it slide right off. Fairly good transition apart from getting into shoes, must have looked like a total novice. Got one in but it took me several times to get the other in.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe this needs some practice.
Bike

  • 20 kms
  • 34.29 km/hr
Comments:

BLOODY WINDY!

The first 3km or so I sat on about 28km into the headwind. My legs were trashed from the swim's running and I couldn't get going.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe do some more hills and trash my legs a bit more.
Transition 2
  • 00m 29s
Comments:

I passed 2 guys in my age group who passed me at the end of the ride. I dismounted faster then them, racked my bike and I was gone. It took them about 2km to catch me in the run.
What would you do differently?:

If only the rest of my race was as good as this transition and I would be on that podium too!
Run
  • 24m 9s
  • 5 kms
  • 04m 50s  min/km
Comments:

I ran ok at times and crap the rest, had nothing left when I finished.
What would you do differently?:

Working on my run and my pace is ok for now, just need to starting doing some more distance work for Busselton. If I can manage 5 min/km or better for then, I will be real happy!
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

I have been suffering hay-fever since Tuesday night.
I also need to start training more consistently.

Event comments:

Damn swim leg is hard! After i had finished I went back to my bike where I found that the competitor beside possibly took my helmet by mistake. So I had to report that to the race organizers. I was a bit bummed about that but decided to stay around for the spot prizes anyhow where for the first time in about 75 triathlons or so I won a prize! Not just any prize but the major prize, a $300 voucher for an Orca wetsuit!
