Pre-race routine:

Ate steak for dinner at one of those fancy restaurants.stretched the night before the race and went to bed early.
Event warmup:

woke up early and stretched real good. It was cold so we went into the convention arena ubtil the last minute, then moved to the race start.

Comments:

I used this run as a training session so my time was slower than a normal race. I hadn't run hard since the Beach to Battleship only a month earlier. My body didnt argue with me and the first 11 miles flew by. I then started arguing with my body telling it that it needed to slow down or I could ruin my training plan (for tobacco road full). It was a great race and alot of support.
What would you do differently?:

I guess stopping at an aid station at mile 12, but that was all part of a master plan.
Post race
Warm down:

Wow, they actually trucked our race bags to the finish line so as soon as the race was over I was able to grab my bag and put dry warm clothes on. Lets see, they didnt have many snacks, just gatoraid and snicker protein bars. The best thing was the free coffee that was given out. That was so welcome that I didnt even sniff out the beer. Besides, theres always beer in the truck.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

the engine

Event comments:

I think Ive only ran a couple dozen races but of those this is my all time favorite running race and third overall favorite (behind Beach to Battleship and White Lake HIM races).

Course: there were alot of hills but they didnt seem to bother us. The csenery was good and there was alot of fan support. It took a few minutes to get into a good rythem but once there the miles flew by. Since this was supposed to be a training run I had already decided I would run 9 miles and then run/walk the rest. I also wanted to go at my usual long run pace of about 9:40's. The race went to good and I was having fun so mile 9 went by, then mile 10, then mile 11. I finally decided I should slow down and even stopped at an aid station for a couple minutes.
