Swim
Comments: Beach start; was in first wave with all men under 34. I was talking to Aaron and the next thing we knew, everyone in front of us was taking off. Completely missed the horn. The swim was the predictable craziness the first few minutes, but settled in nicely after that. Couldn't see anything in the water. Time included run up to transition area, which explains the long time. Transition 1
Comments: I put on socks in T1, so that always slows me down a little. What would you do differently?: Next pair of cycling shoes with make sure fit well and start going sockless. Bike
Comments: This was a nice bike course. Good roads, fun rollers. Drafting was a little bit of a problem but I saw an official giving out several penalities. The official rode on the motorcyle and wrote down a lot of #s of a pack that passed me about 4 miles from the finish. Didn't let anyone in my AG pass me and chased down a few who did. Just drank water during the bike, and not even a lot. What would you do differently?: Can always improve the cycling strength. Ride more, start lifting weights. Transition 2
Comments: I still don't ride with my feet on top of my shoes, but again, maybe should learn. All the horror stories keep me away. Run
Comments: Pretty good run for me. There weren't a ton of people on the course still, especially coming back from the run. I passed 3 people in my AG and got passed 3 times by an older AG. I also actively chased people who passed me this run. I need to continue to be more aggressive during races and not let people pass if I can help it. Took a couple sips of water at 2 of the aid stations. Post race
Warm down: Nothing special Event comments: Enjoyed this race last year and it again delivered this year. How can disco music blaring the entire race not be fun? How can I complain: I placed 3rd in my age group! Last updated: 2006-02-20 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:30, drank cup of coffee and took another cup on the road. Ate a Clif bar during the 1.25 hour drive.
Tracy and the dog came with me to the race. I think there are more pictures of the dog than me.
Got in the water and swam a little. Just wore tri shorts and no shirt for the whole race.
