Swim
Comments: Swimming is just something I have to get better at. My navigation going out to the first buoy was poor due to not sighting enough. I was off course to the right a couple of times and had to adjust myself. I think I need to push harder during the swim so I can make up some ground on the faster swimmers. I wasn't tired or gassed after coming out of the water so that was good. What would you do differently?: Push harder and sight a little bit more often. Transition 1
Comments: I think I need to start clipping my shoes on my bike and running through the transition barefoot. Losing some seconds putting my cycling shoes on and then trying to run in them. Bike
Comments: This was the first time racing with my new aero bars and wheelset. All I can say is what a difference! I was able to shave over 5 minutes off of my time from last year. I felt strong on the bike and there were 2 other guys that kept trading spots with me on the course and I was not passed once. Some people had a hard time staying to the left or right and a few were riding down the middle so I had to work my way around. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: Nothing to note on T2....wasn't great but wasn't bad Run
Comments: Felt a little tired the first mile but settled in after that and was fine. I thought I could have pushed a little harder but overall I am happy with my run. I was able to shave over 2 minutes off my time from last year and was only passed by 1 person. What would you do differently?: Push a little harder towards the end. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed some Gatorade and a bar. Saw my father-in-law and talked with him while we waited for my wife and sister to finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: The swim portion and I know it is something I have to work on to get better. Event comments: I was extremely pleased with my overall performance today and was excited to be racing with my wife and sister. Reed's Lake has been my favorite triathlon both last year and this year. The atmosphere and excitement is great and the crowd support and volunteers are also terrific. The weather was perfect and I really enjoyed myself. I can't wait to come back next year! Last updated: 2010-10-11 12:00 AM

Alarm went off at 4:15 and my plan was to eat and take a quick shower. I did the old turn the alarm off and will get up in a minute trick. Woke back up at 4:55 and had some quick oatmeal. My wife and sister (her first Tri) were also racing so we packed everything up and left the house about 5:20. Did some light stretching before we left.
Did some more stretching and rolled my calves with the stick to loosen them up. Helped my sister and a co-worker out because it was their first race.
