Pre-race routine:

Got to the race early, set-up transition, had the freebie Hammer Gels in the goodie bag right before race start. Wore tri-shorts and tights, a long sleeve Under Armour shirt under a bike jersey and arm warmers. Felt latering would be key in case the weather warmed up.
Event warmup:

Stretching and light jogging. So very cold this time year, tried my best to stay warm.
Run
  • 25m 50s
  • 3 miles
  • 08m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run to start the race. Started towards the bcak of the filed as my running is not really very fast, moved up as I could. Run course was fairly flat and I felt I made good progress.
What would you do differently?:

Need to continue to work on my run speed.
Transition 1
  • 01m 37s
Comments:

Quick turn around, ran into transition, changed shoes and ran the bike out to the mount line.
What would you do differently?:

Fumbled a second with the helmet, need to work on transitions more.
Bike
  • 38m
  • 11 miles
  • 17.37 mile/hr
Comments:

Went from 181 after the run to 107 after the bike. Lots of rollers which suits my riding style and all of the summer riding I do in NH, was able to pass a lot of people on the hills and decents. Had a lot of fun on this bike course.
What would you do differently?:

A little course recon would have helped. I went all out the first few rollers a little easier in the middle and all out again at the end. Ride more in preperation - I only rode about 30 miles in the month (almost all in two races).
Transition 2
  • 01m 39s
Comments:

Little fumble with the race belt coming out of transition.
What would you do differently?:

Again- need to practice transitions.
Run
  • 17m 20s
  • 2 miles
  • 08m 40s  min/mile
Comments:

Well- my run pace was similar to the first run, was a little warn out from the first run and the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Consider warmer socks, my feet were pretty cold by the end of this run.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, grabbed a snack, and stretched.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Need to continue to run more- duathlons are tough when you do not have a strong running base- so much fun though.

Event comments:

Good race- would consider doing it again.
