Pre-race routine:

Got up at 5:15 am, sister(Disney College Program Cast Member) picked mom and I up at All Star Sports and they dropped me off at Animal Kingdom parking lot. Ate half a blueberry bagel and drank a Stonyfield Farms light Mixed Berry yogurt Smoothie. That type of combination seems to sit pretty well.
Event warmup:

none- stood around talking to people I know from another internet site that formed a training group for the 2006 WDW marathon weekend that has continued. Stood in the porta pottie line

Comments:

good run- passed tons of people:) of course that's relatively easy to do when you're one of the last people to start and your pace is a bit faster than theirs. It still felt good to be the passer rather than the passee on a run. Really seemed to fly by- I think I like the 15 K distance. Long enough for my slowtwitch muscles to be happy but short enough to not develop the mental games that a half mary seems to inspire. I'm not sure the last time, if ever, that I've been this high up in the field of a running race. Between this and my St Anthony's results, I'm inching toward the FOP.
What would you do differently?:

Use the porta pottie earlier- my gun time was 1:32:07(322/1489), chip time 1:27:55 because I was in the pp line at the start and finally left when they were threatening to shut down the start; made it to the second one before I absolutely had to stop in spite of yet more lines so there is the other discrepancy between my reported run time and my chip time. My overall place would have been 157 if not for the porta pottie debacle.
Post race
Warm down:

Got my bling, warm powerade and a banana, picture w/ said bling, and then went back to my jockstraps(mom and sis) and we cheered on the rest of the finishers. We were right by the last corner before the finish line. That was almost as much fun as running myself. I definitely want to try and do that for the 16:59:59 finishers at IM Moo this year.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The entire field would have been faster if it was 15-20 degrees cooler although my slow Northern butt may have felt it a little more than the Floridians.

Genetics- my running has much room for improvement but I really only started to actually work on it rather than avoid it last fall

Event comments:

Need more porta potties!!!! Jury is still out on the singlet rather than t shirt for the race shirt. Medal was pretty nice but would like a Minnie head to go with the Mickey head I already have and the Donald and Goofy I'm planning on acquiring in 2007. Liked the music out along the course- it really seemed to fly by.
