Pre-race routine:

Had PB sandwich, a banana, and caffeinated Crystal Lite for breakfast. Left ~8:10. Got good spot in front of Elks. Picked up packet. Looked at NRC expo stuff, but didn't find anything I had to have. Sat in car and read Higdon book until it was time for the start. Decided to wear capris and put earband on over visor because of SNOW!
Event warmup:

Warm-up was just jogging the half block to the start.

Comments:

This was my 3rd Run for the Diamonds and a new PR!!! Big wet flakes of snow that by ~ mile 1 was sticking to the ground. Got a very slow start - they were backing us up to get everybody behind the start line and then all of a sudden the gun went off with no warning. A lot more crowded at the start than I remembered. Finally got into a groove after maybe a half mile. It was snowy on the hill, but I just kept chugging up. Once I got up, I just cruised. A guy who said I got him up the hill promised to only stalk me in races! It was fun! I saw 1:10 at mile 7 and knew if I pushed it, I could get in a PR. I was really psyched!
What would you do differently?:

Not much - had the conditions been better, I think I would've been even faster.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked to car and got jacket. Went inside to get some pizza.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Footing - held back some on the downhills because of the slush

Event comments:

A great way to kick off Thanksgiving!
