Swim
Comments: Never did a OWS so holy smoley is was tough. You have to swim around the a dock..the dock is actually anchored. The ropes come out at a 30ish degree angle. If you swim close to the dock (as I did)you may catch the ropes (ouch). Could here Annika, John and Doug yelling the entire swim which was fab. What would you do differently?: Practice an OWS. I also went into the water as far as I could stand bc I thought treading water would waster energy. Mistake as I was stuck in the walkers. Water is so shallow that I ended up in maybe a foot in a half of water. Also my time includes a .25 mile transition run.. which I walked as part of my plan. You no longer do stairs but a STEEP s curve. Transition 1
Comments: First transition ever I didnt fall and remembered all my stuff. I couldnt master stacking so I just laid it all out. I would recommend at least a tri bottom so you have less to do. To try to make it safer they have you come out of the transition area and stop at a red line before you can proceed with the bike (same to enter). For those with experience probably annoying but for newbies it probably saves them from accidents. Water available as you enter transtion area. What would you do differently?: Tri bottom/suit. Practice it more Bike
Comments: Lost my water bottle around mile 3 and speedometer didnt work. Opps. Since the field has alot of newbies there are really no rules on the road. One person rode the yellow line. I just tried to get out of the madness and enjoy the ride. Cheer on people and thank anyone working the race. Inside the park is smooth outside there are fairly rough areas. This course isnt closed but they do thier best to keep it safe. What would you do differently?: Not lose water bottle and check everything is working. Not be so tense on the ride. Figure out how to check on stopped racers without slowing down. Transition 2
Comments: They have you come to a complete stop before you can enter the trans area. Looked at the rack and couldnt figure out how to rack my bike. ARGH. Figured the rack out. Put on my borrows race belt (tks Mrs Brown dog) and left. Water available as you leave for the run What would you do differently?: not stare at the rack wishing I could just throw my bike down and leave on the run. :) Run
Comments: water at mile 1 and 2. I walked places in that were 100% sun and up hill. What would you do differently?: I hate to run therefore run more. Post race
Warm down: Talked with my family. Thanked them. Couldnt have done it without all of them. Went and soaked in the lake. What limited your ability to perform faster: Being new. I am proud of what I did for a first time performance. I spent time enjoying the moment not racing. High fiving..waving. Event comments: If this is close to home it is a good fit. We went friday to get my packet and asked about parking, they gave us a dicounted rate and a pass for the entire weekend. This year was unseasonably hot so about half way through the bike you could feel it. People who do this tri come in all levels of ability, shape and size. Last updated: 2010-11-29 12:00 AM

Racked my bike (first ever) got marked and hung out with John, Doug and Steph (Brown dog us and Mrs.Brown dog) along with their beautiful girls. Doug and Steph gave me some awesome pointers and alot of laughs. Eventhough I was there at 6:20 I couldnt get the rack coldfire recommended but I did get an outside rack. They changed the set up a bit. This yr if you stood at the bike course start/stop you want the only row to your right. Otherwise you wont have a straight shot
