mild stretching.

Comments:

The first 1.5 miles were jam packed. There could not have been more than a few dozen people who started behind us. Side stitch at mile 4.5 for about a minute. Ran steady although without benefit of knowing splits.
What would you do differently?:

Start closer to the front; see if I could run 8:00 minute miles for the first three.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking about.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

crowds on path; lack of training that would have allowed for acceleration in the last 1.5 miles.

Event comments:

There is a good, fun, vibe to the race. Santa hats, people offering encouragement to friends. Lots and lots of runners from past years judging by the shirts.
Nice sponsor tables/post race snacks etc. Good job with parking in a difficult situation.
