Swim
Comments: This was my best wetsuit swim ever. I sighted perfectly & my stroke felt like I was in the pool. I did get slapped in the face & had to flip over and adjust my goggles (the guys do pack more of a wollop!) but after that I had clear water & set a nice pace. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1
Comments: I did get a little foot cramp taking off the wetsuit, which is how I knew I had swam hard! What would you do differently?: I was pleased with my transition. The longish run up to T1 gave me time to get my equilibrium back. Bike
Comments: I would have liked to go faster - but that would have been disasterous on the run. I hit the balance just right. What would you do differently?: I just need more time and to keep training the hills. I need to work on flat land speed too. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Not much, this transition went quite smooth. Run
Comments: I had to walk a few hills when I got light headed, but this was the best time I could really hope for. The support from STC, Mad Cats, Regulars, Riding buddies & my coach was amazing. Home court advantage is very nice! What would you do differently?: Train more hills. Focus on my run training. Post race
Warm down: After party! What limited your ability to perform faster: Time - this is my second year of hard tri training & first year coached, I just need to keep at it. Running is my biggest limiter. Event comments: It is grass roots & not too flashy. The support is good, the food very good and the event is FUN. The course is pretty open with traffic, so you have to keep your wits about you! Got up at 3:15 am. Drank my coffee, made my PB & Js, made my Gin & Tonic kit, readied my sunshower, packed the car. The night before I had divided my T1 & T2 stuff into appropriate backpacks for the bike ride into both transitions.
The 7 mile ride (mostly downhill) to T1.
