Swim
Comments: Not a good swim at all. After the first couple of lanes I collided while trying to pass, as the returning swimmer was coming back in the same lane. After that I literally had to stand up and wait and shake off the collision. After that mess I tried to swim fast and that is NOT a good thing, my form went to crap and so did my time. What would you do differently?: relax maintain form at all times... DO NOT TRY AND GO FAST, it just makes things worse... I put my swim time down as a 7:45, which I have done on several occasions at the riverplex... but I was relaxed and using good form... big lessoned learned on the swim today Transition 1
What would you do differently?: Need to work on jumping on the bike and getting clipped in Figure out how to get the bike off the rack ahead of time.. rack was low and the bike would not pull towards me, ended up ducking under the bar... Bike
Comments: New course What would you do differently?: Did not get clipped in fast enough... need to really give it hell at the start... I was mentally thinking about the bad swim and not focusing on pushing the pedals, this cost me the first loop, as I went so much faster the second time around. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: need to try zoots again (for sprints), socks take too much time Run
Comments: Could not get a good cadence working on the trail... finally got to the road and laid down a 8:00 mile to catch up.. What would you do differently?: push a little harder coming off the bike... more bricks will help this Post race
Warm down: Stretch afterwards next time... What limited your ability to perform faster: Mental swim issues, I need to relax and just swim, stop worrying about everyone else and how fast of a swim. just relax and swim.. and thing will fall into place... more bricks... Event comments: I did not like the swim format, it caused a lot of congestion. The trail run was a surprise. did not really like it. missed a medal by .3 seconds - lots of lessons learned Overall different than what I am used to , but not bad... Ran a good mile for warmup, this helped... No cramps on the run. Swim warmup was good felt strong at the time
