  • 440 yards
  • 01m 49s / 100 yards
Comments:

Submitted a 7:00 swim time when I signed up. At that time I was planning on doing a litte swim training, I did VERY litte swim training. Thought I might should move back, but then heard the guy behind me say he was going to "try" to swim the whole thing freestyle. I decided to stay put.
Swim went well, had lot's of open water for a pool swim. Think I passed 2 people and got passed once.
Shoulders did get a little fatigued, but that was to be expected. I do like the pool swim though, I get to hear our supporters ringing those bells.
What would you do differently?:

Swim, then do a little swim training, maybe swim a little more. Really, I'm not unhappy with this. I swam very very little this off season and didn't drown.
Transition 1
  • 00m 50s
Comments:

No issues, pretty smooth. If I every practice these, I might get quick.
Bike
  • 31m 47s
  • 11.7 miles
  • 22.09 mile/hr
Comments:

Got on the bike and got up to speed well. The wind pushed us out of town. Not really a straight tailwind. I was cruising at 25-26 I think, but not the 29-30 like when we get a true tailwind.
Made 2 turns and headed back into town, up the "hills" and into the wind. It was my intention to make up some time in town with the turns and such, but with the wind, I just couldn't.
First lap was about 15 minutes and change.
Back out for 2nd lap. More of the same. Passed some nice bikes, did not get passeed.
Saw James ahead of me making his turn to head out on his 2nd loop.
What would you do differently?:

Still need to drop some lbs
Transition 2
  • 00m 53s
Comments:

sock on shoes on and go
Run
  • 26m 30s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 33s  min/mile
Comments:

Legs felt good off the bike. Felt good for most of this run, actually thought my time was going to be better. I got passed by a number of people, but that is not uncommon. I felt much better than my time suggests.

The great news is that I don't seem to have any foot issues this year (knock on wood).
What would you do differently?:

Weight loss will help here too.
Post race
Warm down:

Cheered on my T3 team mates, there were plenty of them and they made the new uni's looked good

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of swim/run training, but it is coming. Too much post-IM weight.

Event comments:

Another good race. I like this one. Had some timing problems this year.
