Swim
Comments: Way shorter than what it was supposed to be. Probably only about a mile. I had terrible sighting and was stuck outside the whole time due to swimmers hugging the buoys. Couldn't see when I went into the sun, so I was really off on the way into shore both times. What would you do differently?: Mirrored goggles. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: I wanted to rip it on the bike, but was feeling pretty drained. Had a fever for a few days and was sick earlier in the week. It definitely affected me a little bit. Overall, still OK for me for a hilly course. Would have liked over 20 though. What would you do differently?: Train more hills. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Yup, the run, how I need to work on you. Did better than my last half with running almost all of it. Walked through aid stations briefly, but then at mile 10, the heat and fatigue hit me. I was left playing the street sign game to keep me moving. Sucked it up the last mile and ran all of that. What would you do differently?: Train in heat, just run more all together. Post race
Warm down: Sit in the shade. What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat, training. Event comments: Overall, very happy. I wanted to get somewhere in the 5:30s for this race, and I almost undercut my goal. Even though this half and my last half were not exact same distances, I still dropped about 30 minutes off my time. My first half was stupid hot(door county). Definitely could train more as always, but I think the biggest thing is I'm learning to push myself and figuring out how to hurt and still keep going. Last updated: 2011-01-03 12:00 AM
