Swim
Comments: I need more practice sighting. I tend to veer-off to the right, probably due to breathing to the right during races. I tried to correct this somewhat during this race by getting to the left of a swimmer who was about my speed and keeping about three feet between us...cut my sighting frequency down to half of what it usually is and saved time. The start and finish were super muddy, and the timing mat was up on shore, so my swim was faster than what is reflected here. What would you do differently?: Practice OWS more often - at least every two weeks. Transition 1
Comments: I think I may try going sockless next time I do a sprint...just to see if it's doable for me. Pulling on socks takes forever. Also, if I'm going to keep doing triathlon, I need to get tri bike shoes instead of the three strip bike shoes I have now. What would you do differently?: Skip socks and possibly gloves. Bike
Comments: I had a UTI and had no energy going into this race. The saddle didn't help my UTI issues, and I was in some sig pain by mile 40. Really, everything went to hell after mile 40....too bad because I was happy with my time at the halfway split. What would you do differently?: Eat more before the race! Coach said I only ate about half the calories I needed to before the race, and could have used about 500 more calories during the bike. Also, I need to practice on more hills and at a higher pace. Post race
Warm down: Just walked around. What limited your ability to perform faster: UTI, low energy, undernourished, not enough sleep night before. Event comments: Good race as long as there is water in Lake Hefner, which doesn't seem to always be the case. Excellent volunteers! Last updated: 2011-01-20 12:00 AM
