Swim
Comments: The course was fairly short, which I expected and the water was pretty warm with the wetsuit on. There were only 55 people in my wave but yet I managed to get boxed in on three sides for about 2/3rds of the course, I was afraid if I exerted myself passing these three people that I would run out of breath and have to take a rest. I finally broke free when going around the second to last buoy. Moderate contact with everyone around me but no kicks to the face or grabs of the legs so not bad. What would you do differently?: I need to learn how to swim over people and some more practice with open water swimming but there is not much I could have done about the last one with the season we have been having this year. Transition 1
Comments: Overall a little faster than I thought I was going to be. Had to sit down to get my heels out of my suit and dry my feet for socks otherwise I felt like I was going to tip over from my head spinning. Running with the bike went smooth and I had a clean mount of the bike. *thank God :D What would you do differently?: Get a brighter towel. Bike
Comments: Overall I think the bike went well for me, kept and average pace of around 19.5 to 20.5 for 90% of the course and slowed to about 14 for a hill or two that wasn't a nice rolling one. Passing was interesting with how crowded the course was and having to weave in and out at very specific times to avoid the rumble strips. Everyone was pretty conisderate and safe when it came to passing in these situations. What would you do differently?: Put in a little more hill time. Transition 2
Comments: Dismount was pretty crap as I came to a full stop and slowly hobbled off my bike at the line. The run down to the transition point and my changing of shoes went fine. What would you do differently?: Carry tissues with me on the bike. I had to stop and blow my nose while sitting still in the transition area. Run
Comments: I was not a fan of my performance in this one. I got a stitch in my side about a half of a mile into the run and had to nurse it the rest of the way though. Relatively easy run in the end but probably a little bit of a lack of hydration did me in. What would you do differently?: Drink more water on the bike and train more frequently. Post race
Warm down: Wandering around trying to find my wayward family and friends while stuffing my face with some BBQ. What limited your ability to perform faster: My run fitness. Event comments: This was my first triathlon so I can't really rate it against other experiences. A four because of the bike course being crowded and rumbley. Otherwise a great experience. I will probably be back! Last updated: 2011-01-26 12:00 AM

Woke up around 5:00 ate a carnation instant breakfast, two pieces of toast with peanut butter and a cup of coffee. I had packed everything the night before so off to the tri at 5:30.
Maybe 1-200 yards swimming in the warm up area and a little stretching. Oh yeah and the run to the starting point so I could start with my wave. Oops.
