Swim
Comments: Had trouble catching my breath at first. First time swimming in my wetsuit which I had to adjust to a little bit. The salt water didnt bother me as much as I thought it would. I got off line a little bit and swam the first "500" in 15 minutes, the last 1000 in 20 minutes. I felt good in the water, at least staying within reasonable distance of most of my ag's. What would you do differently?: OWS more, practice in salt water. Practice sighting. Transition 1
Comments: Here was my roughtest part of the whole race. If you saw someone yacking up his lungs on the side of the transition area, that was me. For some reason, motion sickness? salt water? overheating? I just lost it and though I was going to have to pull out of the race. Knowing my parents had flown out and my GF was there kept me motivated and after I grabbed some water I was OK. What would you do differently?: Practice standing and running out of the water to get my bearings. Bike
Comments: Took it out maybe a little bit slower due to my condition in T1. Felt really comfortable the whole ride, however, and made up some time on what I thought I would get. The headwind between miles 14-21 was not as bad for me as for some people, I guess living in Oklahoma does have its advantages! Came back in a little bit slower than some as I knew the run would be a struggle for me. What would you do differently?: Have a bottle of water instead of just gatorade. Transition 2
Comments: Went a little faster than my last race, felt good at this point in time. Took a whiz. What would you do differently?: Practice taking my feet out of my shoes so that I can run faster through Transition. Get Yankz. Run
Comments: Went out a little too fast, first mile was 9:00 second mile 9:45 third mile 10:30 and from there I walked/jogged the remainder. I felt bad walking but I knew I didnt have anything left. The accumulation of salt water, yacking, not good hydration, and hot conditions (for me) just zapped me. I finished 7 minutes behind my goal, but for my first Olympic I'll take this as a success. What would you do differently?: Drink more water, practice more bricks, start off slower, hammer hard towards the end. Post race
Warm down: Pizza, soda, honey milk, banana, powerade, stretch and repeat. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not training in hot conditions, not enough bricks, limited OWS practice. Event comments: Great production, loved the start with jumping into the ocean. Last updated: 2011-02-04 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4 Am. no trouble sleeping which was surprising. Felt relaxed, ready to go. Went downstairs to the hotel lobby for breakfast and they werent serving any because no one showed up the day before! I was a little nervous because I didnt have any food in the room, so I went to my car got an apple and ate that.
Set up transition area, had my girlfriend there which was an amazing boost of morale. Had a Gu, but figured since there was 2 hours till race time I would just stretch and not warm up to much.
