  • Comments: See my comments on post race regarding post race activities. These guys put a big bow on their races but I need to manage my expectations. For example, they promoted the packet pickup and "expo" at a local hotel the day before the race. I don't know what they consider an expo but all we could do is pick up our packets. I would have thought a vendor or two would be there. They also said they would be very strict on shirt sizes. You get what you put on your entry because that is what they ordered. Then they didn't have my size. Where would it have gone? I mentioned it to a volunteer on race morning and she said "oh, I have plenty of those. Here you go." Not sure where all the missed communications come from. None of this is a deal breaker.

  • Comments: Great venue and great race! Lots of great volunteers. The only thing that would keep me from doing this race again would be the rough swim.

  • Comments: Such a fun race - oh yes very difficult conditions, but that's what i loved about this race...those that placed really had their work cut out...very impressed.

  • Comments: Traveled down from DFW with other buddies for this because we heard it was a great race and was told SWAG was on par with River Cities. SWAG was not on par with River Cities but similar to Dallas Athletes races. Bike leg cancelled and race start changed 2:30 before race start. Trifecta had similar circumstances last year but still laid out bike in case rain cleared and pulled it off on semi wet roads. Probably won't be travelling to Houston area again for less then HIM unless weather forecast is good. Swim leg was a lot of fun but travel costs not worth it.

  • Comments: Canceling the bike on a forecast at 4:31am was a bad decision. By the time we got out of the ocean, the weather could have easily supported to bike. Not a fan of the aquathlon.

  • Comments: Timing issues again but they are changing that finally which is all I can ask for. This is a great race, I hope next year I can do well here. The third time was not the charm.

  • Comments: Looking back now, I'm proud that I finished this race. The injuries leading up to the race affected my ability to "go fast" (at least for me), but I had in mind that I would pace myself and be ok. Completing the distance wasn't a concern, but I did have to re-adjust my time expectations. Also, with getting sick I can see that may have affected things as well. I rated my decision making and overall race as good based on the other possible outcome of not being able to finish and dealing with a very disappointing start in a positive way. I rated this race a 4. The only negative was the timing chip which I understand Onurmark has corrected for subsequent races. I'll be back next year with some more health (hopefully), and a lot more experience and I think that will help turn in a better time.

  • Comments: All in all I am very pleased with this race. I beat last years time by 7 minutes and set a new PR for Olympic distance by almost 3 minutes. It was, also, the first time I got into the top ten in an Olympic race.

  • Comments: Great race and very well organized. I didn't expect the boat start to happen on time and it didn't. The course was fun and fast, the volunteers were excellent and every intersection had police officers. Aaron did a great job and I look forward to running this event again next year.
