Comments: Absolutely miserable. Headwind on the way out. On the way back I took a wrong turn that cut two blocks off my time. Had to DQ myself. Finished anyway. Given the conditions, I think I ran ok. No idea about the pace. What would you do differently?: Ummm... follow the course? Remember a hanky. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Need to learn how to pace the swim. Need more run fitness overall and more experience running in less than optimal conditions. Increased training should improve my mental toughness so I don't feel so whiny during the run. :) Event comments: Can't rate the race against others because it was my first. Up at 4:45. Muesli and a protein shake for breakfast. Bike and bag were already loaded up. Got to the race at about 6. It was freezing cold, windy and raining. Put the bike up in the transition area and decided to take my bag inside and do T1 inside.
