Sunny
Total Time = 1h 26m 22s
Overall Rank = 846/1095
Age Group = F35-39
Age Group Rank = 22/42
Pre-race routine:

Really unusual morning - up late, left late, running late...hmmm, not my best morning!
Event warmup:

Had a little paddle. Chatted with Jess and 2 guys from my old school. Finally to catch up with them! Only been trying for 5 races, hehe.
Swim
  • 15m 28s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 04s / 100 meters
Comments:

Improved my overall ranking by almost 100!

The swim was good. Very heavy traffic, people kept crashing into me. One person knocked off the left goggle so it filled with water. I didn't bother fixing it, just switched breathing to my left and was fine.

I liked that I could really find a rhythm in this swim. Unfortunately it felt like it just went on and on and on... :P
What would you do differently?:

Not start in the pack! Honestly, the amount of time I spent trying to dodge people... probably cost me 30secs or more.
Transition 1
  • 02m 28s
Comments:

A good transition.
What would you do differently?:

? I don't know. It really was very very smooth.
Bike
  • 39m 53s
  • 20 kms
  • 30.09 km/hr
Comments:

Honestly, I felt ridiculously slow. Everyone overtook me. My ave speed was 30.8km/hr which is good for me. I'm starting to think that the bike leg is actually my weakest discipline. Must work hard on this over winter! There were so many people on the course. I suppose that's the hazard of my wave going off at 24mins. PS - 39:53 is the exact same time for 20km as the last race, lol.
What would you do differently?:

No idea. I thought I was riding well but my rankings suck balls.
Transition 2
  • 02m 59s
Comments:

Firstly, I forgot my row number. Missed it by one. Bah. Secondly, the run to my row was almost the entire length of the compound. And then the same on the way back out. No wonder T2 time is long!
What would you do differently?:

Remember the row! (I think I was so rushed when setting up transition because I was that I forgot to commit it to memory.)
Run
  • 25m 38s
  • 5 kms
  • 05m 08s  min/km
Comments:

I am absolutely stoked with this run and the bonus is that it felt really good to run at this pace. My toes were numb but I didn't let that stop me. I pegged back a few of my AG competitors during the run :) Found Jess too. So yes, I improved my time for the 5km from last race by almost a minute and I am very very happy with that.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more on the bike leg.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked back to the car - which was about 1km away. Had lunch pretty soon after because I knew if I didn't, I'd be wrecked tomorrow.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nutrition & hydration on course. I will work on these over winter :)

Event comments:

I have had a great series. What an intro to triathlon! From the mini's to the sprints, it has been such an experience. Lots of growth and I have absolutely loved competing. I think I forgot how competitive I can be, lol. Really want to sink my teeth into an Olympic distance. Over winter, I plan on making some additions to my bike (aero bars, new wheels), getting myself some proper tri bike shoes and basically working my butt off to get my riding skills up to speed. Big thanks to Jess for inspiring me to do this :)
