Started strong, but got out of sync with my breathing, and never recovered. Need serious pool work before the next one.

First tri so I did not have a tri suit which would have saved time in transition. Spent some time catching my breath from the pool. All in all I think it went well.
What would you do differently?:

Next time bring a 5 gal bucket to double as gear tote and changing stool.

Legs hurt from the swim. First tri so I did not attempt a flying start with shoes already mounted. Headwind sapped what energy I had to start with, but made some ground with the downhill sections.
