Pre-race routine:

Was running VERY LATE due to the forgetting my ID, and deciding to split up and not have a meetting place. I was looking for my bike and wife for about 15 minutes. Finally found her with 10 minutes to go.
Event warmup:

Unable to warmup, outside running to the swim start.
Swim
  • 22h 00m
  • 880 yards
  • 2h 30m / 100 yards
Comments:

I went out very smooth and started passing people, which is a new one for me. Then about 300m in, my goggles fogged and I couldn't see. I got off course some, which cost me some time, but not alot, I'm just slow.
What would you do differently?:

I just need to do more open water swims; my sighting kills me every race, I should be faster, just need to put in the work.
Transition 1
  • 06m
Comments:

Didn't do too bad on this, it was a blur so it must have went well. It is a long run to T1, hence the slow time.
Bike
  • 43h 43m
  • 12 miles
  • 0.27 mile/hr
Comments:

Wanted to take it easy on the bike, and I did a pretty good job doing so. I passed a lot of people up, and had a decent but my seatpost kept slipping. At about mile 8, it was at the bottom and was affecting my riding. I lost about a minute stopping readjusting it. Wasn't too happy about it but I'm getting it fixed tommorow.
What would you do differently?:

Not much I could do about the seatpost, everything else went well.
Transition 2
  • 02m 3s
Comments:

Almost bit it on the dismount, but other than that I had a pretty good transition, though I did have trouble finding my bag which cost me some time.
Run
  • 29m 29s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 31s  min/mile
Comments:

Fought some calf cramps at the start, but past that ran a steady pace. I probably could have went faster, but I felt like my calves were on the verge of locking up.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, decent run.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

I went into this race with only 70 miles on the year on the run, and 300 on the bike, and my numbers were way slower than last year. I'm dissapointed that I was slow, but the numbers in training reflect my time. The last thing I want to do is force training and get reinjured.

The positive is I'm 4 months removed from my last achilles problem and it feels solid.

Event comments:

Saw Sports put on a great race and despite my issues, racing is a blast and any time you finish its a good race.
