Swim
Comments: Swim was good -- tried to start easy. Felt like my swim fitness was better so I was able to relax a bit more. I found a good spot at the start so I was able to get through the first 20 meters or so without too much contact. What would you do differently?: I started near the middle point between the two buoys. I think I'd go ahead and start on the left side right in with everyone and hope to get a better draft. Transition 1
Comments: Went well, was much better than last year. Stayed out of the changing tent, just used the seats outside. Was warmer so I didn't have to deal with arm warmers or anything. About 5 minutes faster than last year. What would you do differently?: Just try to be a bit quicker. Bike
Comments: Bike went much better than I'd even hoped. Had aggressive climbing gearing on the bike 52/28 and 11/28 cassette. Was able to stay seated and spin up all the hills -- this made a bit difference. Never felt like my legs were blown (like I did last year). Also, my speedfil made a big difference. Was able to stay hydrated and aero the whole time. What would you do differently?: I don't think I'd do anything differently. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Actually, I didn't take my feet out of my shoes coming into T2 because I couldn't remember if the shoes stayed with the bike last year, so I wanted to put them in the transition bag. But, other people did that, and I'd remove my feet from them next year. Run
Comments: Blew up a little on the run. Not sure if it was the heat, or something wrong on nutrition. I definitely was not adapted to the heat at all coming from a very cold wet spring in SLC. What would you do differently?: I definitely need to up my weekly mileage. I was only running about 16 miles a week for the last two months before the race. I think that hurt me. And, it would be a good idea to try some techniques to try to adapt to the heat -- treadmill runs in a hat and jacket. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: My run. I walked for about 3 miles at one point. I think it came down to run fitness, accentuated by the heat. Event comments: Awesome race. Well organized. Beautiful course. Lots of great volunteers. A good challenge, and great atmosphere. Last updated: 2011-03-16 12:00 AM

Woke up ~3hrs before the race. Had waffles & a little coffee. All my stuff organized the night before. Tried to have as little stress race morning as possible.
Didn't really warm up. Was rushing a bit between the port-o-potties line, and the line for air pumps. Then wetsuit on and into the line to get in the water.
