Swim
Comments: Average swim for me. The course was definitely long. The RD said that he only included water that was thigh deep or deeper in the 1/3 of a mile, yet we still had to get through the rest of the water to the beach - maybe another 150 yards. I was able to swim in to about 50 feet - around knee deep. What would you do differently?: I didn't get to swim as much as I would have liked over the summer, as I was focusing on running for a marathon. Simply putting more pool and OWS time will help. Bike
Comments: I was hoping to be a little faster on the bike, but I still had the fastest bike split by a little more than two minutes. My goal was somewhere around 300 watts, but I came in at 278 watts. I was able to catch up to and pass everyone except two people from my wave and the two waves in front of me. Since this was such a small race, passing was easy and there wasn't that much drafting that I saw. There was a decent climb a bit over a mile long from mile 7.7 - 9, which I rode around 330 watts. The rest of the race I was around 270 watts, and coasted on the downhill. The roads were still pretty wet from overnight and morning rains, so I had to take it easy on the turns. What would you do differently?: Push a few more watts Transition 2
Run
Comments: Not my best run by any means, as I was only 13 days out from a marathon. My run time for this kind of race should be in the high 18 to 19 min time frame. The first part of the run was in the park, then out onto a local road and back into the park. There were a few spots that weren't marked well, and I made a small wrong turn as there weren't enough volunteers on course. What would you do differently?: Not much - the marathon may have gotten me into Boston 2012 - I'll find out this coming week. Post race
Warm down: Walked around a bit and talked with Colin, who won, then waited for our other teammates to finish up. What limited your ability to perform faster: The marathon two weeks earlier didn't help, but I'm pretty happy with the bike leg. Event comments: This was a small race, so I know it was hard to find volunteers, but they were sorely need on parts of the run course. The post race food was catered by a local restaurant, and excellent. Overall a fun race. Last updated: 2011-03-28 12:00 AM

Up at 4:15, breakfast, and out the door at 5:00. It was a 2 1/4 drive, so I had to be up early.
Got in a .8 mile run and about 5 min of swimming.
