Comments: I had a plan prior to the start as I tend to do this with all my races. But as always as soon as the gun, horn or GO! goes off all my plans go right out the window. My plan was to go hard for the first 200 yards, settle in until the first buoy, kick heavy after the first buoy with a consistent stroke followed by an all out on the return. But when I heard GO and started my watch I simply decided to go all out. This plan had flaws, at first I was passing everyone. Some where near the first buoy my left shoulder was really bothering me and my breath was really laboured. I thought I would slow down since the first buoy is always congested and difficult to pass through but when I got there I got trashed and swallowed like a gallon of water. I settled down but never quite got my breath under control and if you've ever done Wyckoff you know you need your breath under control cause when you get out of the water you have like 1/4 mile run to transition. Needless to say I didnt have enough in me to get to transition as fast as I wanted to. I gout out of the water around 14 and something minutes but didnt hit the chip mat til 17 and change. What would you do differently?: Follow the PLAN.... Transition 1
Comments: Very surprised that my wetsuit got stuck on my heels. I never have any problems geting my wetsuit off. I took a little longer because I promised myself I would ut on sunscreen, last week at Eagleman I got burned big time. What would you do differently?: Get my wetsuit off like I normally do. Bike
Comments: I grabbed my bike, jumped on and missed getting my right foot on the pedals, to my surprise I looked down and when I looked up I was on top of a cone. I had to wheelie off it and go on my way. I had a good time on the bike, didnt go all out but managed to keep a decent pace. I was worried how I would fare up after Eagleman last week and I wanted to make sure I had something left for the run. Local run didnt want the bragging rights to go against me :) What would you do differently?: Nothing really except for the cone fiasco. Transition 2
Comments: Sweet transition, sprayed more sunscreen on and ran off. Run
Comments: I felt good on the run, my legs felt strong but my lungs were burning a bit. I had a good run considering, the track work with the track team is definitely working. Post race
Warm down: Finshed the race and found friends to cheer other friends finish. Had a great day I love this race. What limited your ability to perform faster: Dont want to use Eagleman as an excuse...I think sticking to my race plan wouold have been a best. Event comments: It was great seeing Mark (rollinbones) during the run, I knew he would catch up, when I didnt see him on the bike I knew I'd see him on the run. I did and his pace was just way too fast to stick with. Last updated: 2006-03-28 12:00 AM

Took 2 Enduralytes the night before, woke up at 4:30 and had a Yogurt and a Soy milk shake. Prepared my bottles, loaded the car and hit the road. Got to the race site around 5:35, picked out my transition area and got my chip and body marking. The girl doing my number thought I was 29 and I had to stop her before she wrote it on my calf! There's no way I look 29, she must of still been asleep. After my getting markes I set up my transition area and started talking to everyone I knew, local race lots of friends which is nice cause when I travel for races I usally go alone or meet up with one or two so It's nice having 10-15 friends racing.
I took a carb boom 20 minutes before my wave. Took a brisk warmup about 5 minutes, 1 minute slow 2 minutes fast, 1 minutes slow, 1 minute all out. Listened to the star spangeled banner and went off in the second wave.
