Pre-race routine:

Was sick the week leading up to this which screwed up any taper I was planning. Still not feeling 100% race day.

Comments:

The first mile or two I did not feel great. Maybe I need to start warming up first. Miles 3 and 4 (the two big hills) went well - passed a bunch of people who had passed me earlier. Started the kick just as leaving Running Brook - probably should have started earlier.

I think I live in perpetual fear that I am going to run out of gas on these races. Probably because my run endurance has never been very good. I guess I need to get over this and push myself more to see where the boundary is.
What would you do differently?:

Go harder early. Too much left in the tank at the end.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Was really hoping to get below 50 minutes on this, but just missed it. I should still be happy with this; it is a PR by almost 2 minutes, and is 10 minutes faster than I ran Clyde's last year.

Event comments:

A good race, except why was there no clock at the finish line? Weird. I don't wear a watch when I race so I had to wait until results were posted that afternoon to see how I did.

As a bonus this year, the t-shirt was actually really nice (last year's was awful). And I finished early enough to not have to stand in a long line for post-race food. I am always amazed by the ability of people to pound beer and hot pasta at 9am after the race.
