Pre-race routine:

Up early as it was a 1+15 hour drive... shower and shave as usual... oatmeal and coffee for the ride... rocked it out with two of my daughters to get us in the mood!
Event warmup:

Light stretching and a short swim.
Swim
  • 07m 55s
  • 400 yards
  • 01m 59s / 100 yards
Comments:

MUCH BETTER sighting... still got inside on first leg but recovered... MUCH better drafting as well... still a little tentative but my best OWS to date!
What would you do differently?:

Swim faster
Transition 1
  • 02m 3s
Comments:

Slow to get shoes clipped in...
What would you do differently?:

Practice Practice Practice!
Bike
  • 45m 3s
  • 13 miles
  • 17.31 mile/hr
Comments:

WORST bike ride on that course... EVER... not sure what happened but I had a miserable day climbing... downhills were some of my fastest ever but the climbs got me... 11 mins behind the AG First Place... suck suck suck! 218 watt avg... fairly typical for my rides... but no power on climbs...
What would you do differently?:

PEDAL HARDER! This winter I am going to have to focus on improving on the bike... very disappointed in my ride today! I think I seriously need a tri bike...
Transition 2
  • 02m 19s
Comments:

Stopped to put on socks as it was really hot... and I was soaked from the bike...
What would you do differently?:

Get shoes that are meant to be run in without socks... should have looked at the course closer... took right foot out of shoe WAY TOO EARLY... for a good 3 mins I thought I missed a turn and was off the course!
Run
  • 23m 34s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 52s  min/mile
Comments:

BEST RUN to date... WTF... worst ride yet best run... not sure what was going on there... cold, wet towels and multiple water stations were really nice... got passed early on by several but ended up passing most on the last mile as I just felt great!
What would you do differently?:

Keep up what I am doing...
Post race
Warm down:

Water, Fluid Recovery, two hugs from my daughters and a massage!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

BIKE BIKE BIKE

Event comments:

Thanks Team Magic... great t-shirt in the swag bag... actually glad to not get yet another tech shirt! Would have like some kind of hardware to commemorate the 25th anniversary!
