Swim
Comments: Started on the front row and got off well. A few folks passed me with minimal contact. Stopped once to defog my goggles. I barely kicked my legs and need to work on this. my goal had been to get under 30 min so I was pleased with the time. What would you do differently?: Try harder to kick more and to draft more. Transition 1
Comments: Used the wetsuit strippers and had decided to put shoes on in T1 without socks. It was quite a jog both from the swim exit to my bike and then with the bike up to the road. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: The 4 loops got progressively crowded as more waves joined the bike, but at no point did it seem dangerous or overcrowded. The wind was a little hairy on Congress as it whistled between buildings on the cross streets. I need to lose a few lbs to be more effective on the hills, but I seemed to catch up on the descents. I took a power gel after the second and third loop in anticipation for the run. My goal had been to maintain 20 mph av speed so a little disappointed there. What would you do differently?: Work harder..? Transition 2
Comments: Moved efficiently. I didn't come out of my shoes on the bike as the transition area was very sandy, so I wanted to minimize the amount of dirt on my bare feet before I put on my run shoes without socks. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: I seem to be good at knocking out 8.30 pace 10k's after my 52.41 in Kemah last month! This run went well and I felt strong. Had a low point in mile 4 but walked through the aid station and got going again. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Technical & windy bike course Event comments: A little more organization required in the early morning transition (no body marking available where we needed it). Last updated: 2011-04-06 12:00 AM

Alarm at 5am, breakfast of Cliff bar and a bottle of Gatorade. Walked to the race site from the Embassy Suites. There was a little confusion over the body marking and I got sent back to the the site entrance for the calf marking which was a pain (for me and many others)
Light stretching as the Pros finished their swim and then a few strokes once in the water.
